Audience Member This season seems exceedingly depressing. Rated 3/5 Stars • Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Mike A This was easily my LEAST liked season so far. I only discovered this show about two months ago at which point I proceeded to binge watch every season. I loved all the other seasons with the exception of Season 4 which was kind of a stinker, mostly due to too much shaky camera work and that boring starting hike. Also the location was super depressing and claustrophobic. Anyway, here are the things I didn't like about season 7, SPOILERS below:1. Those interviews after each episode were basically just recaps and totally unnecessary imo. The interviewer was charismatic and did a decent job but very little was revealed and the interviews seemed more like an attempt to make the contestants into celebrities and somehow more relatable/likable to us. (Btw, what was up with those bright white teeth veneers on the host?) I think it's better that when someone loses, boom they're gone, not to be seen again until the reunion special. 2. There were too many gory animal deaths and dismemberings. We don't need to repeatedly see an animal getting "processed". Also, Roland's killing of that ox was barbaric and he seemed to show zero respect or empathy/compassion for it, or any of the animals he killed. Huge turnoff.3. It just felt boring. With the exception of the final episode, I would often think, damn, this season is way less engaging than the other seasons. I had trouble putting my finger on it. Maybe I'm just getting bored of the show. Or maybe they had a different crew or different approach in editing this one? Or maybe the contestants are getting too good so we don't see as many mistakes and as much struggle? I think those post episode interviews may have been a factor. Rated 2/5 Stars • Rated 2 out of 5 stars 08/25/20 Full Review Audience Member Once one of the best survival shows going, season 7 contains a lot more of participants "hamming it up" for my liking. They seem to enjoy exhibiting their growing insanity a bit too much. I've always loved seeing these experts demonstrate creative and ingenious survival skilIs. But I found myself rooting for many early tap-outs. Too much singing, chewing, slurping, and other annoying things that I suppose the editors thought we'd enjoy. To me, the participants just seemed to be way more unlikeable than in previous seasons. I'm glad I never have to hear Roland eat, sing, or growl again. I'd guess the new million dollars for anybody that lasts 100 days format was done to be a bit more psychologically humane than leaving participants with no idea of how long they need to last. Not knowing how close, or how far they are from the grand prize. At least giving them a concrete end date is a bit kinder to the mind. It's watchable. Just not AS watchable as season's past. Rated 3/5 Stars • Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member This is what I thought "Survivor" was supposed to be all those years ago. A little depressing, watching these survival experts slowly starving to death, but very watchable. Seeing them solve life or death problems daily gave me a greater respect for the pioneers of our past.Worth watching. Rated 4/5 Stars • Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member This is the best survival show. Rated 5/5 Stars • Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member I love this show! It's a given I would never be able to survive Alone, regardless of where I'm dropped. ;-) I like to think I'm living precariously through any one of the contestants. lol Rated 4/5 Stars • Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Read all reviews
